Fashion week in New York City kicked off last week. My very good friend, Steven Alan, a wonderful designer who is quite the sensation among Hollywood celebrities, like Katie Holmes and Ashton Kutcher, presented his fall 2011 collection at the Chelsea Piers. He has a store right near where I live in Tribeca, and several more in NYC, Texas, and California. I love Steven’s work because it is high quality, casual wear. He uses a lot of organic material; his shops are full of antique wood; and he is the nicest, sweetest, most loveable person. I eyed many pieces that I liked at his fall collection. His designs are flexible ones that work in the country or in the city – and they are so comfortable and so down to earth. Fashion shows are a fun yet surreal event. Models are showcasing the clothes while photographers are snapping around you every second. But, it’s what the industry calls for if you are going to be seen in magazines and spoken about in the press. Check out Steven Alan’s site: http://www.stevenalan.com/home.php. He even has adorable kids clothing. Here is Steven with his proud mother!
